Privacy Policy
Last updated October 31, 2026
This policy explains what information Complaint Index (https://thecomplaintindex.com), run by Complaint Index, collects, why, and what you can do about it. The short version: we collect only what we need to run your account and take payment, and we never sell your information.
What we collect from you
- Account details. Your email address. If you sign up with a password, it is stored only in hashed form by our login provider; we never see it.
- Google sign-in. If you choose “Continue with Google,” Google shares your name, email address, and profile picture with us. We use these only to create and identify your account.
- Purchases. When you buy access, our payment processor (Stripe) collects your card details. We never see or store card numbers. Stripe tells us your email, that the payment succeeded, and a reference number for the purchase.
- Technical logs. Our hosting provider automatically records basic request information, such as IP address, browser type, and pages requested, to keep the site running and secure.
How we use it
- To log you in and keep you logged in.
- To know whether your account has paid access.
- To send account emails, such as password resets and sign-up confirmations.
- To prevent abuse and fix problems.
We do not sell, rent, or share your personal information for advertising.
Google user data
Complaint Index's use of information received from Google APIs adheres to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements. We use your Google name, email, and profile picture only to sign you in. We do not use Google user data for advertising, and we do not transfer it to anyone except the service providers below, as needed to run your account.
Cookies and browser storage
We store a login token in your browser so you stay signed in. We do not use advertising or tracking cookies, and we do not use third-party analytics.
Service providers we rely on
- Supabase: account login and our database.
- Vercel: website hosting.
- Stripe: payment processing.
- Google: optional sign-in.
Each handles your information under its own privacy policy and only to provide its service to us.
Public posts we index
Our ideas are generated from publicly available posts, such as app store reviews and public forum and social media posts. We store the post text and a link to the original, and may show a short quote with a link back to its source. Content from Stack Exchange is used under its Creative Commons license with attribution. If you wrote a post we've quoted and want it removed, email us the link and we'll take it down.
How long we keep information
We keep your account information while your account exists. Payment records are kept as long as needed for tax and accounting purposes.
Your choices
You can ask us to show you, correct, or delete your account information at any time by emailing support@thecomplaintindex.com. If you signed in with Google, you can also remove our access from your Google Account settings.
Children
Complaint Index is not intended for children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect their information.
Changes to this policy
If we change this policy, we'll update the date at the top of this page. Significant changes will be noted on the site.
